FAQ

Why aren't you getting married in a church or a chapel?

We're not especially religious folks, so we thought it would be highly hypocritical to get married at a church/chapel/cathedral if we're not even devoted to the given religion. That... and Amanda really wanted to get married outdoors.

So this isn't a traditional wedding?

In some ways, it is. Amanda's wearing a white dress, having a wedding party, we're going exchange vows, and Amanda is going to walk down the aisle with her Dad... those are the big traditional elements that we're keeping. The more non-traditional elements are in the spirituality of the ceremony. It's going to be done by a Justice of the Peace and preceding the ceremony itself, we're going to allow folks to partake in a Ring Warming.

A Ring Warming is where the friends and family of the bride and groom actually hold the wedding rings (before the couple is married) and blesses the rings in their own way. In past Ring Warmings, people have prayed, waved Sage sticks, silently stared at it and said words in their heads, etc. Those that are unwilling to partake in the Ring Warming have the option of passing the ring down the row to the next person.

There are also going to be lots of non-traditional elements in the reception but... those are a surprise! You'll just have to come and party with us to see!

Why May 16?

We met on May 16, 2005 - our wedding day will be on the same day we met, except four years later.

If you have any questions that you want posted, just email the bride.
